Description
CVICU / CTICU RN – Level I Trauma Center
Shift: 12H Nights (7p–7a)
Weekends: 4 per 4 weeks
Holidays: Based on unit coverage
Scrubs: Navy
EMR: Cerner
Unit Overview
- Unit: CTICU/CVICU | Beds: 24
- Ratios: 1:1–2 (mostly 1:1)
- Support: 2 PCTs (days/nights with high census)
- Charge Nurse: Yes (no assignment)
- Intensivist: On days / on-call at night
- IV Team: No – strong IV skills needed
- RT & Pharmacy: 24/7
Required Experience
- Level I Trauma experience – REQUIRED
- ICU background required; CVICU preferred
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam before acceptance (2 attempts)
- Must be competent with sterile technique
Orientation
- Day 1 Pass/Fail exam
- SIMs Lab (Pass/Fail): Foley insertion & central line dressing change
- Breaking sterile field = termination
- Floor Orientation: 2 days
Patient Types
- Post-cardiac surgery, ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP, CABG
- Lung transplant & thoracic cases (lobectomy, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy)
- TAVR, bronchs, Swans, epidurals
Float Requirements
- Float to all ICUs & Tele (4:1 ratio)
- Travelers float first
- May float to Westgate
Certifications
- BLS, ACLS required
- CCRN preferred
Additional Requirements
- 50-mile radius rule (DL as proof)
- Natural hair color only; no facial piercings
- Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
- BSN required
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle
Cancellation Policy
- Up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week contract
- If shorter contract: 3 cancellations
