CVICU / CTICU RN – Level I Trauma Center
Shift: 12H Nights (7p–7a)
Weekends: 4 per 4 weeks
Holidays: Based on unit coverage
Scrubs: Navy
EMR: Cerner

Unit Overview

• Unit: CTICU/CVICU | Beds: 24
• Ratios: 1:1–2 (mostly 1:1)
• Support: 2 PCTs (days/nights with high census)
• Charge Nurse: Yes (no assignment)
• Intensivist: On days / on-call at night
• IV Team: No – strong IV skills needed
• RT & Pharmacy: 24/7

Required Experience

• Level I Trauma experience – REQUIRED
• ICU background required; CVICU preferred
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam before acceptance (2 attempts)
• Must be competent with sterile technique

Orientation

• Day 1 Pass/Fail exam
• SIMs Lab (Pass/Fail): Foley insertion & central line dressing change
• Breaking sterile field = termination
• Floor Orientation: 2 days

Patient Types

• Post-cardiac surgery, ECMO, CRRT, Impella, IABP, CABG
• Lung transplant & thoracic cases (lobectomy, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy)
• TAVR, bronchs, Swans, epidurals

Float Requirements

• Float to all ICUs & Tele (4:1 ratio)
• Travelers float first
• May float to Westgate

Certifications

• BLS, ACLS required
• CCRN preferred

Additional Requirements

• 50-mile radius rule (DL as proof)
• Natural hair color only; no facial piercings
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
• BSN required
• Travel teams must have their own vehicle

Cancellation Policy

• Up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week contract
• If shorter contract: 3 cancellations
