Key responsibilities
Patient assessment and diagnosis:
Perform diagnostic tests like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess patient conditions.
Therapy administration:
Implement treatment plans by administering prescribed therapies, such as inhalants, oxygen, and aerosol generators.
Equipment management:
Set up, operate, and maintain equipment like mechanical ventilators, CPAP and BIPAP machines, and other respiratory care devices.
Emergency care:
Respond to life-threatening situations with emergency respiratory care, including performing CPR and assisting with artificial respiration.
Patient and family education:
Explain treatment procedures to patients and provide education on managing their conditions at home.
Team collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute patient care plans.
