Position Summary

The Med-Surg/Telemetry Float Pool RN provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within the hospital. This role requires a highly adaptable nurse with strong clinical skills who can float seamlessly to various Med-Surg areas based on staffing needs. Proficiency in EPIC is required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Assessment

• Deliver safe, effective nursing care to adult Med-Surg/Tele patients in an acute-care setting.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret telemetry data.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care appropriately.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per provider orders.

Telemetry Monitoring

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize basic dysrhythmias.
• Document telemetry findings accurately and notify providers of significant changes.

Float Pool Responsibilities

• Float to all Med-Surg units and Telemetry units as needed.
• Adapt quickly to different unit workflows, patient populations, and staffing patterns.
• Maintain strong communication and teamwork with staff across all units.

Communication & Collaboration

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide clear handoff reports and maintain continuity of care across units.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

Qualifications

Required

• Active RN license (state-specific; must be active by start date).
• EPIC experience – REQUIRED (must be noted on profile).
• Recent acute-care experience as a Med-Surg RN (typically 1–2 years).
• BLS certification (AHA).
• Strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and ability to work in multiple units.
