Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (19:00–07:30)

Job Summary

The MS/Tele RN provides high-quality patient care for adults and geriatric populations on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. The nurse will manage patients with chronic and acute conditions and must be comfortable with telemetry monitoring and standard Med/Surg responsibilities. Travelers may float to additional Med/Surg units as needed.

Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or Med/Surg experience
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted

Certifications:

• BLS (required)
• ACLS (preferred)

Skills Required:

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Blood product administration
• Colostomy and feeding tube care
• Renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
• IV insulin protocols
• Wound care/Wound Vac
• Respiratory support (Nasal Cannula, O2 tanks, CPAP/BiPAP*, HFNC*)
• Chest tubes – Emerson/PleurEvac
• Post-surgical care (orthopedic, GI, GU, general surgery)
• Total joint replacements and surgical drains
• Isolation precautions
• Pre/post neurosurgery

Unit Information

• Unit Types: 3rd Medical/Surgical, 3rd Med Surg/Tele, and 3 Medical
• Beds: Ranges from 10–48 depending on unit
• Telemetry capacity: 4–10 monitored patients
• Patient Ratios: 1:5–7 (days and nights)
• Floating: Required to other Med/Surg units
• Weekend Requirement: Every 2nd–3rd weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Population: CVA, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, renal disease, post-surgical, telemetry patients
• Special Equipment: Safe patient handling equipment, bladder scanner
• Charting: Meditech
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Communication System: SBAR

Facility Requirements

• Valid state RN license in hand at submission
• Current profile, certifications, and Nursys/IEMA within last 30 days
• At least one supervisor reference
• License/background disclosures required if applicable
• No COVID vaccine requirement
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
