• Total Beds: 31 beds
  • 11 private, 10 semi-private
• Telemetry: Philips monitors
  • RNs must be able to read & interpret all cardiac rhythms

  • Shift Manager + Resource Nurse

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Experience / Skills

• EMR: Cerner
• Must be comfortable caring for high-acuity tele patients and interpreting rhythms.

Common Patient Types

• Post-pacer
• Hemodialysis patients
• New onset Afib or RVR
• Step-down from ICU
• Select surgical patients (urology: cystoscopy)
• Rare ortho patients
• Oncology patients with cardiac monitoring needs
• Strokes & TBI
• Correctional patients (federal)
• Sepsis
• PEG tubes
• High-acuity / heavy-care patients
• Patients with pressure injuries
• ~1/3 admissions from nursing homes
• No cardiac surgery patients
• Chest pain is sent out

Respiratory / Equipment

• CPAP/BiPAP per RT
• No ventilators

Support Services

• Hospitalist/Intensivist: In-house, on-call after hours
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
• Pharmacy: 24/7 with Omnicell
• IV Team: None

Shifts & Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts: 0700–1930 & 1900–0730
• Block scheduling: Allowed when staffing permits (not guaranteed)
• Weekend Requirement:
  • 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Nights: Fri/Sat
  • Days: Sat/Sun
• Holiday Requirement:
  • Travelers follow perm staff rotation
  • Must work 1 major + 1 minor holiday

Call / Standby

• If placed on call/standby, must be able to respond within 30 minutes

Floating Requirements

Travelers float first. May float between units under same license:

• MSW
• MHB
• 2W Med-Surg Remote Tele
• Med-Surg SW
• ICU (for tele/MS holds only)
• ER (for holds)
