Cath Lab Travel Tech – Assignment Details
Trauma Level: —
Charting System: Cerner
Traveler Restrictions: No first-time travelers
Team Structure & Workflow
- Cath Lab Techs:
- Procedures are performed with 2 techs (1 scrub, 1 monitoring hemodynamics).
- RN manages conscious sedation.
- Some cases may include a 4th team member (RN or tech depending on case need).
- A Lead Tech assigns rooms and oversees daily workflow.
- Agency provides the traveler with a radiation badge.
Required Certifications
- ARRT
- Fluoroscopy permit (Fluoro)
- BLS
Required Skills & Experience
- Recent Cath Lab experience is mandatory.
- STEMI-receiving facility experience.
- Comfortable with:
- Conscious & moderate sedation
- Procedural flow & sterile technique
- Airway management
- Cardiac drips (Integrilin, dopamine, vasopressors)
- Balloon pump management
- Procedures include:
- Cardiac/Coronary
- Vascular
- Peripheral
- General Interventional Radiology
- Neurovascular interventions
Lab Setup
- 5 Total Suites/Labs:
- 2: Coronary
- 1: Peripheral
- 1: Vascular & Neuro
- 1: EP (Electrophysiology)
Case Load
- Average Daily Cases: 10–22 total per day (across all suites)
Call Requirements
- Weeknight Call:
- Rotating, ~1 night/week
- Weekend Call:
- 1 weekend per month
- Weekend call runs Friday evening → Monday morning
- Subject to change based on departmental needs
