Description

Registered Nurse – Nights (7pm–7am)

Cross-Trained Float RN – Med/Surg, ICU, ER
Every Other Weekend + Holiday Rotation | 2 On-Call Shifts per 4 Weeks

Position Overview

The RN will function as a multi-unit float nurse covering Med/Surg, ICU, ER, and MST. This role requires strong critical care skills, adaptability, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to deliver high-quality care across diverse patient populations.
BSN and critical care experience are required.

Schedule

  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Rotation: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
  • Holiday Rotation: Required
  • On-Call Requirement: 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks

Float Requirements

  • Must be comfortable and competent floating to:
    • ICU
    • Emergency Room
    • Med/Surg (MS)
    • Med/Surg Telemetry (MST)
  • Cross-training for all covered units is required.

Licensure & Certifications

Required (Minimum)

  • Current NYS Registered Nurse License
  • BLS – AHA or RQI
  • ACLS – AHA or RQI
  • PALS – AHA or RQI
  • NIHSS
  • Basic Coronary Care within 6 months of hire
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) within 90 days of hire

Preferred

  • Certification by the Emergency Nurses Association within 2 years
  • TNCC recommended within 2 years
  • Specialty certifications encouraged (e.g., CCRN, CEN)

Experience Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Critical care experience required
  • Must have demonstrated ability to function in high-acuity and rapid-response environments.

Skills & Competencies

Required

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and support teamwork
  • Competence in pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care
  • Computer literacy and comfort with EMR use

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems

This includes understanding growth and development principles and accurately interpreting patient data to meet age-specific needs across all assigned units.
