BERKSHIRE HEALTH SYSTEM – TRAVEL RN REQUIREMENTS (Effective Immediately)

Mandatory Compliance Requirement

You MUST upload your agency’s Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License (Nursing Pool License) with every Berkshire submission.
This is a state-mandated requirement, and submissions will be rejected without it.

General Submission Rules

• 48-hour guaranteed time is NOT available
• Block scheduling is NOT available
• Permanent home address MUST be uploaded with the traveler profile
• Travelers who live within 50 miles of the facility will NOT be considered
• All RTO MUST be included at time of submission
  • No more than 5 days accepted
  • RTO requests after submission will NOT be approved
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers must work TWO of the following:
  • Thanksgiving + Friday/weekend after
  • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day + Friday/weekend after
  • New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day + Friday/weekend after
• Extensions: Assignments ending in Nov or early Dec will not be extended into Jan 2026
• Traveler must have their own vehicle—mandatory requirement

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Critical Care (Float to PCU required)
• Unit Size: 20 beds
• RN:Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Dress Code: Personal scrubs, any color
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable
• Holiday & OT Multiplier: 1.25x

Shift Requirements

• Floating to PCU required
• Block scheduling not allowed
• Traveler must be fully flexible with schedule

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Must be willing to float
• Ventilator experience required
• ICP monitoring required
• Hemodynamic monitoring required
• Meditech Expanse strongly preferred
• TNCC preferred
• BSN preferred

License Requirements

• Massachusetts RN License must be in-hand at submission
  • Facility will not pend licenses
  • No exceptions

Certification Requirements

Required (AHA only):

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Preferred:

• TNCC
• Additional critical care/emergency certifications

Profile Submission Requirements

• Complete work history
• Current skills checklist (within 1 year; relevant to position)
• At least one supervisory reference from the last 2 years
• License & certifications uploaded with profile
• Permanent address included
• Confirmed RTO (no changes allowed after upload)
