Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Travel Assignment)

Location: Elizabeth, NJ 

Start Date: January 5, 2026

 Duration: 13 weeks 

Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join a Level II facility in Elizabeth, NJ. This role requires strong clinical expertise in antepartum, intrapartum, and neonatal care, with the ability to manage complex patient scenarios and collaborate effectively with the care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care across labor stages:
  • 1:1 ratio in second stage labor, C-section circulating, and post-anesthesia stage 1
  • 1:3–4 ratio in triage (agency RNs may assist with charge RN)
  • 1:2–3 ratio in early labor
  • 1:2 ratio in active labor
• Perform antepartum care including EFM, sterile speculum exams, NSTs, and OCTs.
• Manage external fetal monitoring, IUPC use, and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Administer IV therapies, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and pain medications.
• Circulate for C-sections (scrubbing highly preferred).
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room.
• Float to Mother/Baby unit as needed.
• Document care using AllScripts Sunrise Clinical Manager and GE Centricity Fetal Surveillance systems.

Requirements

• Current NJ RN license (required upon submission).
• Minimum 2–3 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers not accepted).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM Intermediate Level, AWHONN Intermediate, Stroke CEUs*.
• Ability to work every other weekend, Labor Day, and one winter holiday.
• Strong IV skills (no PICC lines).
• Experience with circulating for C-sections; scrubbing preferred.
• No block scheduling; locals accepted.
• Travel pairs not accepted.
