Schedule: Full-time, 36 hrs/week

Job-Specific Duties / Competencies

  • Perform a full nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission
  • Develop individualized plans of care and identify teaching goals
  • Provide patient status updates for initial and weekly team conferences
  • Ensure accurate, timely medical record documentation
  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate)
  • Educate patients/families to support rehabilitation goals
  • Begin discharge planning from day of admission
  • Communicate changes in patient status to physicians and charge nurses
  • Seek guidance for complex clinical decisions
  • Supervise and delegate appropriately to LPNs, CNAs, and other support personnel
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused unit environment
  • Communicate unit needs (supplies, equipment, repairs, training) to leadership
  • Provide cost-effective care and monitor supply usage
  • Assume charge nurse duties after orientation
  • Pursue professional development and continuing education
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet patient needs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
