DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry
Location: Kansas City, MO 64111
Position Type: Full-Time
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience; first-time PCU/Telemetry nurses accepted

Certifications Required:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Licensure:

• Pending RN license accepted

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care in a Progressive Care/Telemetry unit
• Monitor and manage patients with cardiac and medical-surgical conditions
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as necessary
• Administer blood products and manage central, peripheral, and PICC lines
• Manage post-cardiac procedures including angiogram, cath, MI, and surgery care
• Administer IV insulin protocols and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Manage PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), tracheostomies, and high-flow oxygen devices (HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, oxygen masks)
• Perform wound care and wound VAC management
• Implement isolation precautions as required
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and telemetry monitoring

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• MS/Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Telemetry unit monitoring
• Pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Accessing ports and line management (central, PICC, peripheral)
• IV therapy and line starts
• Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration)
• Surgical drains and chest tube management
• Tracheostomy care
• Oxygen therapy and ABG interpretation
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care including wound VAC
