IMPORTANT McLaren Northern enforces a strict 3-strike attendance policy effective 6/1/2024. Any RN contractor who is absent or more than 20 minutes late three times will be immediately terminated. Exceptions may be made for documented medical issues such as communicable diseases or hospitalizations. Position Summary The Cardiovascular RN uses strong clinical judgment to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The RN plays a vital role in the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), which treats more than 4,000 cardiology patients annually. Procedures include PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, and care for 300+ post-open-heart surgery patients (within 18–24 hours post-op). The unit also manages congestive heart failure and electrophysiology patients and supports national clinical trials through the NISUS research team. The CVU has received the Silver Beacon Award (2014, redesigned 2017) from the AACN, recognizing outstanding patient outcomes and nursing excellence. McLaren Northern Michigan is also recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S., reflecting exceptional performance, efficiency, and community value driven by an outstanding nursing team.
