Description

Emergency Room - Registered Nurse - Days (ID: 757896)

  • Unit: ED
  • Shift: Days (6am start)
  • Need to be able to start within 2 weeks from offer
  • GWW 36- 3 x 12's or GWW 48 4 x 12's (48 hours preferred)
  • If candidates only want to work 36 hours, rate will be lower
  • Must have: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, MAB/CPI and current CA RN
  • 13-week contract
  • Min 1 year travel and 2-year ED experience.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and Holidays

Responsibilities

Job Objective
An Emergency Department Registered Nurse must be knowledgeable in multiple disciplines, pediatrics, obstetrics, medicine, cardiology, trauma, orthopedics, oncology, infectious disease, and psychiatry. He/she must be knowledgeable in caring for all age groups; newborns, infants, toddlers, childhood, adolescence, adult and geriatric.

Essential Duties for all RN’s in the Emergency Department:

  • Meets all the essential duties of a Registered Nurse.

1. Nursing Process

  • Applies nursing process in direct patient care.
  • Skillfully practices triage of patients per Triage Policy
  • Assesses patients and documents on the ED nursing T-system a minimum of every two hours or more often when necessary.
  • Appropriately intervenes when assessment reveals an abnormal finding, examples include but are not limited to airway, breathing, circulation.
  • Knowledgeable regarding pre-hospital forms.

2. Nursing Care Delivery Process

  • Knowledgeable regarding current emergency nursing practices and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of the legal aspects of emergency nursing care, including but not limited to: 1) Treatment and/or release of minor to someone other than parent.
  • EMTALA laws in regard to medical screening exams and transfer procedures.
  • Procedure for medical/legal examination and collection of evidence.
  • Procedure for obtaining legal blood alcohol specimen.
  • Requirements for reporting suspected elder/dependent adult and child abuse/neglect. c. Coroner’s report

3. Technical Equipment

  • Chest tubes, drainage system, and auto-transfuser.
  • Cardio-Respiratory monitors
  • Monitoring equipment; Arterial Lines, CVP, Swanz Ganz, ICP.
  • Invasive and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.
  • Crash cart/defibrillator (external and internal), ambu bag.
  • Oxygen saturation/pulse oximetry
  • Fluid warmer
  • 12 lead ECG
  • Pacemaker, internal and external
  • Competent operation of ReddiNet communication System
  • Environment

  • Participation on unit or hospital-based committees
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform and interpret ECG correctly
  • Ability institute Thrombolytic therapy protocol
  • Ability to assist in ICP insertion and monitoring/interpretation of wave form
  • Ability to assist in insertion and monitoring of arterial line and central lines.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nursing license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification, initial certification required at first available hospital training class. Annual recertification required
  • Annual Restraint Certification/Recertification
Weekly Untaxed Travelers Stipend: $1,939/week Day Shift: 6am - 6:30pm BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and MAB/CPI I also have other positions in California RN- ER 36 hours (3x12hrs) for 13 weeks Weekly Gross: Los Angeles, CA (Day Shift: 0330-1600)- $2,960/week Los Angeles, CA (Night Shift: 1530-0400)- $3,073/week Fontana, CA (Night Shift: 1900-0730)- $3,024/week
