Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift – 40 hrs/week (Guaranteed)
Setting: Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) / Long-Term Care (LTC)

Job Summary

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality therapeutic services designed to restore or improve residents' mobility, functional abilities, and independence. The PTA collaborates closely with residents, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary care team within a skilled nursing/long-term care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver therapeutic procedures as ordered by a physician or supervising therapist.
• Follow the established plan of care including functional long- and short-term goals.
• Incorporate resident and caregiver feedback into treatment sessions.
• Report resident status changes immediately to the evaluating therapist.
• Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust the plan under supervision.
• Document all care interactions in a timely, accurate manner.
• Recommend and assist with assistive devices; provide teaching as needed.
• Educate residents and caregivers, documenting outcomes of teaching.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement guidelines.
• Support development of new rehab programs and services.
• Maintain department cleanliness and follow infection control procedures.
• Maintain current licensure, certifications, competencies, and required training.

Requirements

Education & Licensure

• Associate Degree required
• Active PTA License (MA – must be current)
• BLS/BCLS certification required

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Long-term care / skilled nursing facility experience preferred

Physical Demands

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (two-person lift required above 50 lbs)
