Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care in the CVOR within a Level I trauma center.
• Assist with complex cardiovascular procedures including valve replacements, aneurysm repairs, ECMO, TAVR, and other cardiac surgeries.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Float within scope to meet facility needs; provide support in general OR or vascular surgery as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols including laser safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol compliance.
• Document patient care accurately using Cerner charting system.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent CVOR or cardiovascular operating room experience.
• Active Illinois RN license or in application process.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with advanced cardiovascular procedures (e.g., Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, TAVR, intra-aortic balloon pump, LVAD).
• Knowledge of vascular surgery, endoscopic procedures, and thoracic surgeries including Whipple procedures.
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, trauma level I hospital environment.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience within teaching hospitals or Level II trauma settings.
• Prior experience with ECMO management, Femoral Cannulation, Mitral Valve Replacement, Pericardial Window, and minimally invasive thoracic surgeries.
• Familiarity with laparoscopic-assisted cases, mediastinoscopy, thoracotomy, VATS, and endoscopic procedures such as bronchoscopy and EGD.
