Position Summary

Under the direction of the on-duty Nursing Supervisor and Charge Nurse, the Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and effective collaboration with the emergency care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid, comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Administer treatments and medications accurately and in a timely manner per physician orders
• Perform clinical procedures such as EKGs, IV starts, blood draws, and emergency interventions
• Initiate and participate in emergency resuscitation following established protocols
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately
• Maintain patient confidentiality and deliver care in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner
• Adhere to safety standards, infection control practices, and medication administration policies
• Assist other departments as needed and within scope of competency
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and effective communication at all times

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active California RN license in good standing
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR
• NRP and TNCC required within one year of hire
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical-thinking skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to function independently in a high-acuity setting
• Willingness to work extended hours or alternate assignments as needed
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during the course of duties
