Location: United Health Services (UHS), New York
License: Active NY RN license required
Certifications: BLS required; additional unit-specific certifications per assignment

Position Overview

United Health Services is seeking an experienced Med/Surg–Telemetry Float Pool RN who is confident floating across multiple inpatient units, including higher acuity and critical care areas when needed. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Manage a group of patients safely and effectively in both Med/Surg Tele and higher-acuity float settings
• Administer medications in accordance with UHS policies and standards
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatments, and health promotion
• Participate in shared governance, unit councils, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards
• Contribute to a positive learning environment for new staff and students
• Demonstrate UHS core values in all interactions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

• Critical care experience required (must be able to float into higher-acuity units)
• 6 months–3+ years RN experience accepted
• Strong competency in:
  • Telemetry interpretation
  • Acute care nursing
  • Clinical prioritization
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Patient and family communication
• Reliability, safety awareness, and adaptability across units

Preferred Experience

• Previous acute care or ambulatory care nursing experience
• BSN preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Required Certifications

• Current NY RN license

• BLS AHA
