Description
Unit Notes – MS/Tele Float Pool (NO HOME BASE FACILITY)
Hiring & Onboarding Process
- Interview: Conducted with the MedSol Clinical Team
- No Unit Manager interview required
- Radius Requirement: 60 miles
- Valid Driver’s License must be submitted
- Orientation:
- 1–2 days of unit/department-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are completed remotely
🚨 FLOAT REQUIREMENTS – VERY IMPORTANT 🚨
- NO HOME BASE FACILITY
- Travelers are expected to float throughout the entire zone they are hired into
- Each zone covers a 60-mile radius from the zone’s city center
- Housing location does not change the floating expectation
- Traveler is responsible for securing housing that allows compliance with full-zone floating

- Rehab
- Renal
- Bariatrics
- Orthopedics
- Trauma
- ED Observation
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
- Common diagnoses include:
- Cardiac & Neuro
- Ortho & Trauma
- Oncology & Renal
- Urology (post-surgical)
- General Surgery (post-appendectomy)
- Gynecology
- Psych/Detox
- ENT
- General Medicine
- Stable long-term placement patients
Staffing & Clinical Expectations
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5–6 (based on acuity)
- Charge Nurse:
- Designated charge on each unit
- Does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
- Night shift charge more likely to carry a small assignment
- Nurse Aides: Yes
- RT Support: Yes (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience (Required)
- Neuro experience preferred
- Drips:
- Heparin titration required
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Scheduling & Shifts
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Scheduling:
- Created by leadership 6 weeks at a time
- Travelers must be flexible and help fill permanent staff gaps
- Time-Off Requests:
- Must be submitted prior to assignment start
Weekend & Holiday Requirements
- Weekends: 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holidays: May be required to participate in holiday rotation
Call / Standby
- Rare, typically for low census situations
Floating Acuity Levels
- May be asked to float to:
- ICU (low-acuity holds only, within skillset)
- PCU / Stepdown
- Med/Surg Tele
Scrubs / Dress Code
- Any color scrubs allowed

Travelers may be floated to sister facilities within Zone 3 (Denver-based), including:

Float Assignment Notification
- Travelers will receive a float assignment per schedule
- First float assignment will be communicated on or before Monday start date
