Hiring & Prescreen Process

• Prescreen + Manager Review required

🚨 DYSRHYTHMIA EXAM – REQUIRED 🚨

• Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam before contract signing
• Passing score: 80%
• Maximum attempts: 2
• If clinician fails to score 80% within two attempts, they will be DNU for CommonSpirit AZ and Sacramento markets for 6 months

Radius & Employment Restrictions

• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Candidates may NOT have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Common Diagnoses / Patient Population

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• COVID
• Respiratory conditions
• Gastrointestinal disorders
• Diabetes
• Telemetry monitoring patients
• Post-cardiac catheterization
• Total joint replacement patients

Required Experience & Skills

• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips
• Experience with CVA and TIA patients
• Total joint replacement experience required
• Cerner experience recommended
  • Only one day of orientation provided

Drips & Monitoring

• Drip Titration Required: No
• Common Drips:
  • Diltiazem (Cardizem) – set rate only
• Telemetry / Monitor Techs: Yes
• RN Responsibilities:
  • RNs must interpret telemetry strips
  • Strips must be signed at least once per shift

Staffing Support

• Charge Nurse: Yes
• House Supervisor: Yes
• Nurse Aides: Yes
  • Ratio: 1 aide per 10–15 patients
• Respiratory Therapy / Equipment:
  • BiPAP
  • CPAP
  • Breathing treatments

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Length: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Scheduling:
  • Schedules are created 4 weeks at a time
  • Self-scheduling is used, but final approval is by the manager

Weekend & Holiday Requirements

• Weekend Requirement:
  • 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement:
  • For Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving, clinicians are expected to work:
    • 2 day shifts and 1 evening shift, OR
    • 2 evening shifts and 1 day shift
  • Includes: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day

  • East Campus
  • PCU, if qualified
