Job Description

We are seeking experienced Pediatric Operating Room Registered Nurses for a travel assignment in San Francisco, CA. This role supports a high-acuity pediatric surgical program and requires strong skills in both scrub and circulate roles, including pediatric ophthalmology procedures.

The RN will work in a Level I academic medical center environment with a wide variety of pediatric surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

Scrub and circulate pediatric surgical cases
Assist anesthesia during induction and maintain sterile field
Prepare and manage surgical instruments, implants, and equipment
Perform surgical counts, specimen handling, and documentation
Monitor patient safety and respond to intraoperative emergencies
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams
Float to adult OR or affiliated facilities as required

Required Qualifications

Active California RN license
Minimum 2 years of Pediatric OR experience
Scrub and circulate experience required
Must have ophthalmology OR experience
AHA BLS & PALS certifications
Previous travel experience required

Preferred Qualifications

CNOR certification
Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery
Proficiency in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures

Unit & Facility Details

Pediatric patient population: neonates through adolescents
Approximately 30 cases per day
10 operating rooms
Specialties include Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, ENT, Plastics, General Surgery, Urology, Transplant, and more
Advanced surgical equipment including robotics, lasers, and navigation systems
