Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Akron, Ohio
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
- Location: Akron, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel.
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license.
Certifications Required
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Certifications must be current; candidates with certifications expiring within 30 days of start must renew prior to starting.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN Trace, Counties, States, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+), updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- TB questionnaire required annually if history of positive TB.
- Eye exam required within 1 year for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025.
Competency and Orientation
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication dosing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts).
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone).
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all nursing positions except OR.
References and Employment History
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar area to assignment.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start.
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Physical exam and immunizations must confirm ability to safely perform essential job functions.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
- Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between assignments may need updated physical, immunizations, and eye exam.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, ready for a night shift travel assignment with a reputable healthcare system.
