Travel RN Opportunity - Neurology Telemetry Unit

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Specialty: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Assignment Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 3
  • Unit: Neurology 6C (32 beds)
  • Patient Ratios: Vary by shift; nights typically 1:6-1:7 (not guaranteed)
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Equipment: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
  • BLS certification from AHA required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start (may submit without initially)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, inpatient only (required)
  • Preferred: 1 year neuro inpatient experience
  • Must have experience and competence in drug titration
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Utilize nursing process to care for patients post trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Float on a rotational basis within the unit
  • Follow facility mission, values, and service standards

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • May work varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
  • Dress code: Black scrubs only
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
  • Flexible scheduling options available (36 or 48 hours/week)
  • Holiday and time off requests limited and managed per facility policy

  • Patients primarily neuro, medical, and medical telemetry
  • Careful consideration given to patient ratios depending on circumstances
