Med/Surg RN – Nights (Critical Access Hospital) Contract Details Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: Mid-March Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Shift: 12-hour Nights (5:00 PM – 5:00 AM) Billing Cycle: Monday – Sunday Scheduling Requirements Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday Float Requirements: Float to like units as needed within the Critical Access Hospital On-Call/Call Back: On-call only if agreeable due to low census Call back only for emergency situations 30-minute response time Licensure & Certifications IA RN License AHA BLS AHA ACLS AHA PALS (Required due to occasional pediatric patients on the Med/Surg unit) Experience Requirements Minimum Experience: 2+ years Med/Surg Critical Access Hospital experience: REQUIRED Pediatric experience: Must have cared for patients under age 18 Charge Nurse experience: Strongly preferred (backup charge role required) Charting System EPIC (Preferred) Unit & Facility Information Total Beds: 25-bed Critical Access Hospital Med/Surg: 20 beds OB: 4 LDRP beds 1 Postpartum/C-section prep room Average Daily Census: Med/Surg: 8–10 patients (skilled care, acute, observation, same-day surgicals) OB: ~85–90 deliveries per year Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Med/Surg: Up to 1:5 (typical 1:3–1:4) Support Staff: CNAs on both shifts Required Skillset & Candidate Profile Ability to work independently in a Med/Surg setting Comfortable functioning in a backup charge nurse role Resilient, adaptable, and confident in clinical skills Team-oriented, social, and willing to assist/train less experienced staff Dress Code Scrub Color: Staff choice (Med/Surg) Additional Notes GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation week Traveler is guaranteed set hours weekly, except during unit closures for holidays Compliance Requirement: Candidate must begin the medical portion of compliance within 48 hours of offer acceptance (or 24 hours for quick start)
