The Montefiore Lactation Education Manager maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurse Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. Scope of Practice for International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs). Standards of Practice for International Board-Certified Lactation. The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. New York Code Rules and Regulations (NYCRR 405.2) Hospital Regulations concerning Breastfeeding.
The Lactation Education Manager actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balance scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.
The Lactation Education Manager collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding. The coordinator serves as a consultant and educator to patients and healthcare professionals as well as students from nursing and medical schools.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing Required.
- Master’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred
- 5+ years of clinical experience in Maternal Child Health
- Certification as a Lactation Consultant by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
