CT Technologist – Unit Overview & Requirements
Submission Requirements
• 100-mile radius rule applies
• Unexpired driver’s license required (must be included with submission)
• Licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
• Radiation badge required – provided by agency (facility will not provide)
Licensure & Certifications
• WV license required
• BLS required
• ARRT CT board certification preferred
• CT experience strongly preferred
Department Details
• CT Scanners: 2
– 1 in-house unit
– 1 mobile unit docked to facility
• Equipment: Siemens Edge (2018), 128-slice scanners
• Floating: No (CT only)
• Volume: 50–60 scans/day (high-volume department)
Common Exams / Duties
• CT Brain
• Abdomen/Pelvis
• Chest Angio
• Spine
• Stroke protocols
• Trauma & extremities
• Interventional CT
• Venipuncture & IV starts required
Systems
• HIS/EMR: Meditech Expanse
• PACS: GE Centricity
Staffing & Coverage
• Radiology Supervisor/Lead Tech: Joe Sult, RT(R)(CT)
• RRA Utilized: No
• Radiologists: 7 employed (on-site & remote)
• Nighthawk coverage after-hours & weekends
Scheduling
• Weekdays: 8-hour shifts
• Evenings/Nights/Weekends: 12, 14, or 16-hour shifts
• Weekends: Possible
• Holidays: Possible
– New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
• Call/Standby: Possible
– 30-minute response time
Orientation
• Department-specific orientation
• Typically 3 days (Day 1 with HR)
Scrubs
• Any color allowed
• Green scrubs provided for staff caring for COVID patients
