• Prescreen required + manager review
• Clinician must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing
  • Two (2) attempts allowed
  • 80% minimum score required
  • Failure to pass within two attempts will result in DNU status for CS AZ and Sacramento for six (6) months

• 50-mile radius
• Candidates may not have worked (FT/PT/PRN) with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year

• Inpatients holding in the ED
• Coverage across both campuses
  • East Campus (Campus 2):
    • NextCare: 10-bed, double occupancy
    • ICU and stepdown patients
  • West Campus:
    • Stepdown: 14 rooms (double occupancy), average census ~20
    • MedSurg Tele: 95 beds, divided into 4 areas
    • MedSurg units organized into 10-room pods, double occupancy

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• PCU: 1:4
• MedSurg Tele: 1:5–6

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Patient Population / Common Diagnoses

• Geriatric patients
• Orthopedic patients
• Strong cath lab program
• Post-procedural patients
• Post-MI, post–cardiac cath
• CABG patients (post-op days 3–4)
• Stepdown patients with groin site management

Required Experience / Skills

• Minimum 1 year ICU experience
• Must be comfortable titrating drips

Common Drips

• Heparin
• Cardizem
• Amiodarone
• Nitroglycerin
• Dopamine
• Dobutamine
• Insulin
• Travelers must be comfortable managing most or all of these drips

Charge Nurse

• Charge nurse present on each unit
• Does not take a patient assignment

Support Staff

• Nurse aides utilized in all settings

Respiratory Equipment

• MedSurg: CPAP or BiPAP at night
• PCU: BiPAP, CPAP, Heated High Flow

Telemetry

• Stepdown and MedSurg Tele units are monitored
• Monitor techs monitor PCU and MedSurg Tele
• RNs must be able to interpret telemetry strips

Scheduling & Logistics

Shifts

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Scheduling

• Scheduler assigns float pool schedules
• Schedules published 6 weeks out, in 4-week blocks
• Flexibility required
• Night shift will attempt to accommodate block scheduling

Weekend Requirement

• Every Other Weekend

Holiday Requirement

• Travelers included in permanent staff rotation

Call / Standby

• Yes — travelers may be placed on standby for a 12-hour shift
• Must be available to be called in at any point during that shift

Unit Assignment Notification

• Assignment sent via text message
• Notification provided 2 hours prior to shift start

Travel Between Campuses

• Approximately 20–25 minutes

Scrub Color / Dress Code

• Currently: solid-color professional scrubs
• Starting October: Navy scrubs (Dignity guideline)

Orientation

• 8-hour general hospital orientation
• 12-hour shift at West MedSurg Tele
• 12-hour shift at West PCU
• East campus orientation is similar and smaller, easy to navigate
