Description
This is a 13 week contract-to-hire position.
Local candidates only (within 45 miles of work facility)
Duties
- Coordinate patient care from arrival through discharge, including escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms, performing vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Obtain and document medical and social history, vital signs, height and weight, allergy information, and medication reconciliation accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure accurate documentation of all patient care activities in the EHR/EMR.
- Assist providers by ensuring appropriate preparation, examination, and diagnostic testing occur without error or delay.
- Prepare patient electronic medical record (EMR) charts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Gather reports, labs, studies, and other pertinent data for upcoming patient appointments.
- Place orders for imaging, labs, and other studies as appropriate, accurately, and on time.
- Process patient referrals to other provider offices and facilities.
- Collaborate with patient scheduling and schedule appointments as needed.
- Answer patient questions and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Respond to pharmacy requests in collaboration with providers.
- Fax, copy, and transmit necessary information to insurance companies, provider offices, and facilities as required.
- Answer phones, retrieve voicemail messages, and return calls promptly and professionally.
- Maximize downtime between patients by cleaning and stocking exam rooms, filing documents, copying materials, and assisting with medical and office supply inventory and ordering.
- Obtain provider and/or patient signatures on appropriate documentation.
- Demonstrate compliance with the Code of Conduct and organizational compliance policies; report and escalate compliance concerns as appropriate.
- Accept responsibilities only within scope of practice.
- Maintain professional boundaries in all patient interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
- Required: High school diploma or GED (or higher)
- Required: Medical Assistant course completion if hired after March 1, 2025
Licensure / Certification
- Required: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS
- Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification
Experience
- Preferred: Prior healthcare experience
