Description
Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Operating Room
Shift & Schedule
- Shift Type: Days
- Hours: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week
- On-Call: None
- Holidays: Rotation as needed
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides safe, efficient, and patient-centered care in the Operating Room. The CST is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile techniques, and assisting surgeons and the surgical team during operative procedures across multiple specialties in a Level I facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards
- Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures
- Anticipate surgical team needs to ensure smooth case flow
- Perform surgical counts and ensure proper handling of specimens
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers
- Support patient safety and quality initiatives throughout surgical procedures
Required Experience
- Minimum of 24 months’ recent Operating Room experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- Level I Trauma Center experience (required)
- Strong hands-on experience in the following specialties:
- General Surgery
- Robotics
- Pediatrics (including ENT)
- Orthopedics
- Laparoscopic Procedures
- Urology
Required Certifications & Licensure
- NBSTSA Certification (CST) – required
- NBSTSA equivalent certification accepted
- BLS Certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) or
- American Red Cross (ARC)
