Description

Med Tele RN 

Location:  Druid City Hospital, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 

Pay Rate: 45–50 per hour (locals only) 

Tentative Start Date: ASAP once cleared 

Schedule / Shift: 

  • Day shift and Night shift available. 
  • 36 or 48 hours per week. 
  • Every other weekend required. 
  • Block scheduling is not offered. 

Contract Length: 13 weeks 

Job Description: 
The Med Tele RN will provide direct patient care to adult patients requiring medical and telemetry monitoring services in an acute care hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, administering medications, monitoring cardiac rhythms, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. The role requires adherence to hospital policies, clinical standards of practice, and regulatory requirements while supporting a fast-paced medical telemetry unit. 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of overall Registered Nurse experience.
  • At least one year of recent experience in the specialty the candidate is submitted for. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. 
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification. 

Preferred Certifications & Licensure: 

  • AL RN License
  • BLS, ACLS and NIH Certification 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Ability to interpret and respond to cardiac telemetry monitoring.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in acute care settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients while prioritizing care based on acuity.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and patient safety practices. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct nursing care to medical telemetry patients in accordance with hospital standards and nursing scope of practice.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly report changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as ordered by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in shift handoffs and unit communication to maintain continuity of care.
