Travel RN – PreOp / PACU
Facility: Sutter Health CPMC – Davies Campus (North Tower)
Location: San Francisco, CA 94117
Unit: ACU PACU (Ambulatory Care Unit)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 03/16/2026
Schedule: 4x10s Variable (Monday–Friday)
• 06:00 AM – 4:30 PM
OR
• 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM
No weekends | No on-call
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced PreOp/PACU RN primarily working in PreOp with transition into PACU recovery as needed. Responsibilities include pre-operative preparation, PACU recovery, ACU recovery, and post-surgical discharge.
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN License (required at submission)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years experience required for submission
- 5+ years PreOp/PACU experience strongly preferred
- Previous Charge Experience – Required
- Experience with 1:2 patient ratio
- Epic experience preferred
Clinical Skills Required
- Pre-op assessment & education
- IV starts, phlebotomy, foley insertion
- Blood glucose monitoring & insulin protocols
- Procedural sedation monitoring
- Airway management & ventilated patients
- Extubation (LMA/ET)
- ABG interpretation
- Arterial line management
- PCA pump management
- Pain management & RASS scoring
- Pre/Post Endoscopy, IR, Cath Lab procedures
- Discharge instructions & follow-up calls
- Medication reconciliation
Surgical Exposure Includes:
General, Ortho, Neuro/Spine, ENT, Gyn, Plastics, Urology, Endo/Laparoscopic, Pediatrics
Unit Details
- Ambulatory Care Unit
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Float required to other CPMC campuses if census is low
- Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics
Compliance Notes (Tier 3 – Important)
- 50-mile travel requirement (locals accepted at lower bill rate – must confirm awareness)
- Must be available for labs within 3–5 days of signing
- All certifications must be AHA and in hand at submission
- 7-year work history verification required
- Background disclosures required prior to submission
- Only one holiday RTO approved
- Modules (non-billable up to 16 hrs during orientation)
