Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a Level I Trauma facility in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced operating room environment requiring strong clinical versatility and recent trauma experience.

Start Date: March 9, 2026 (ASAP consideration)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: 4x10 Hour Evenings
Shift Time: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Hours: 40 scheduled hours per week
Setting: Level I Trauma Operating Room

This role requires strong multi-specialty experience and the ability to function independently in a complex surgical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sterile field for a wide range of surgical procedures
  • Assist surgeons during operative procedures with instrumentation and sterile technique
  • Anticipate procedural needs in trauma and high-acuity cases
  • Maintain accurate surgical counts and adhere to safety protocols
  • Rotate through various specialties based on unit need
  • Participate in call rotation and weekend coverage as required

Requirements

  • National Certification REQUIRED:
    • NBSTSA (CST) or
    • NCCT (TS-C)
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year of Level I Trauma experience within the last 3 years
  • Minimum 1 year of travel experience within the last 3 years
  • Strong experience (3–4 proficiency level) in the following:
    • General Surgery
    • Orthopedics
    • Neuro
    • Vascular
    • Trauma
    • Robotics
    • Transplant

Additional Details

  • Call & Weekend Requirement:
    • Required and rotating (days, evenings, nights)
    • No more than 2 call shifts and 2 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
  • Floating: Based on unit needs
  • Flu and COVID vaccination required (medical/religious declinations accepted)
  • Scrubs: Navy Blue
  • Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital environment
  • 552-bed facility
  • Offers must be accepted or declined within 48 hours
  • Time off cannot be added or altered once offer is accepted

Local rate applies to candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility.

Level I Trauma CST position requiring national certification and recent trauma experience. Must have strong multi-specialty OR background including robotics and transplant. Call and weekend rotation required. Travel experience within the last 3 years required. High-acuity teaching hospital environment — experienced candidates only.
