Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse – Rochester, NY

Position Overview

• Monday–Friday schedule, 07:00–17:30
• On‑call required
  • Average 8–10 call shifts per month, including one full weekend
• Unit accepts first‑time travelers (must have prior Cath Lab experience)
• Must have experience in both Cath Lab and IR
• EPIC required
• Scrubs provided
• No locals within 75 miles
• Pending license not accepted
• RTO should be kept to one week or less

Required Experience & Skills

Must‑Have

• 2+ years RN experience, including:
  • Direct Cath Lab experience (IR‑only profiles not accepted)
  • Ability to circulate and manage high‑acuity procedural patients
• Strong competency in:
  • Diagnostic cardiac catheterizations (adult)
  • Left & right heart catheterizations
  • Pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction & insertion
  • AICD insertion/programming
  • Temporary pacemakers
  • IABP placement/removal
  • Impella insertion
  • PCI
  • Pulmonary artery/Swan‑Ganz monitoring
  • Angioplasty
  • Central venous access (PICC, ports, non‑tunneled)
  • Endovascular interventions
  • Stent graft placement
  • Upper/lower extremity angiography
  • IR procedures including:
    • Paracentesis
    • Liver biopsy
    • Nephrostomy
    • Renal angiography & stenting
    • Uterine artery embolization
    • Chest tube placement
    • Lung biopsy
    • Kyphoplasty
• Medication competencies:
  • Antiarrhythmics
  • Antihypertensives
  • Emergency medications
  • Procedural sedation administration & monitoring
• Additional skills:
  • 12‑lead EKG
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Infection prevention
  • Implanted port care
  • IV infusion pumps

Patient Population

• Cath Lab: Patients requiring diagnostic or interventional cardiac procedures
• IR: Patients requiring drains, tubes, biopsies, kyphoplasty, and other image‑guided procedures

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS

Licensure

• Active New York RN license required at submission
• No pending licenses accepted

Additional Notes

• All RTO must be included at submission
• Guaranteed hours: facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks (hours may be broken up to equal one shift)
• Local candidates not accepted within 75 miles
