Emergency Department RN – Nights – 13 Weeks

Start Date: 03/02/2026 Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3×12) Location: Tuscaloosa, AL

Position Overview

A busy Emergency Department within a regional medical center is seeking an experienced ED RN for night‑shift coverage. This Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center treats more than 60,000 patients per year and requires nurses who are confident, adaptable, and skilled in high‑acuity emergency care. Travelers must be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the system.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years ED RN experience required
  • Will consider 18 months if at least 1 year is recent ED experience
• Must be working under the highest level of nursing licensure

Licensure

• Active Alabama RN license OR Compact license
• No temporary licenses accepted
• NURSYS verification required

Certifications (Required)

• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• AHA PALS
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• SECURE (on‑site)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum requirement)

Unit Details

• Facility: Regional Medical Center
• Beds: 54
• Trauma Level: III
• Stroke Level: II
• Annual Visits: 60,000+
• Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios:
  • 1:1 for critical/trauma
  • 1:3–4 for general ED patients
• EMR: Meditech
• Scrubs: Solid Navy

Floating Requirements

• Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the system

Scheduling

• Shift: 7p–7a
• Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Holidays: As required
• RTO: Must be submitted at time of submission
