About the Role

Sheppard Pratt School in Gaithersburg is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to support students in a therapeutic school environment. This is a contract opportunity with flexible scheduling for 4–5 days per week, generally 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The SLP will provide therapy in both small group and push-in sessions, integrating services into school activities such as lunch, morning meetings, and community outings. Caseload size is approximately 30 students, aged 15–21 years, working on certificate-track goals.

This position may consider strong CF candidates with experience in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and behavioral interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct speech and language evaluations and therapy for students in group and individual settings.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Support students in functional communication during classroom and community activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with facility guidelines.

Requirements

• License: Permanent SLP license required (no temporary licenses allowed).
• Experience: Open to candidates with strong school-based experience; prior travel experience preferred but not required.
• Certifications: Any relevant certifications preferred.
• Vaccinations: COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); flu vaccine status unknown.

Additional Compliance Notes:

• Fingerprints must be completed in Maryland via Livescan for clearance.
• Candidates must pass drug screening; marijuana use will disqualify applicants.
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before applying for a travel role.
