Title: Nurse Manager – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Madison, WI
Position Type: 13 Weeks (40 Hours per Week – Exempt)
Start Date: 03/16/2026
Shift: Days – 8 Hour Shifts | 24-Hour Accountability Role
Department Overview:
• 5,200 deliveries annually
• 42-bed Level III NICU
• Patient Population: >22 week neonates to ~46 week neonates
• Drips Administered: Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, Dopamine
• Unionized nursing workforce
Job Description:
The Interim Nurse Manager is responsible for 24-hour clinical and administrative leadership of the NICU. This role provides operational oversight, staff mentorship, and strategic direction to ensure safe, high-quality neonatal care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical and administrative leadership for the NICU
• Mentor and develop frontline leaders and charge nurses
• Lead department through operational or structural changes with resilience
• Ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards
• Oversee staffing, workflow, and patient care outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support neonatal services
Required Qualifications:
• Previous Interim Leadership experience (minimum 1–2 completed assignments)
• Recent NICU experience in a Level III or Level IV setting
• EPIC EMR experience
• Experience mentoring leaders
• Active Wisconsin RN License (Compact Accepted)
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
Additional Requirements:
• 1 Supervisory Reference at time of submission
• Skills Checklist (within 1 year)
• Driver’s License
• License Verification
• Time off before late April must be limited
• Travel home permitted but not every weekend
