Description
Job Profile: 305879-CT Techg I
Performs basic and intermediate computed tomography (CT) procedures under the direction of the Radiologist.
Major Responsibilities:
·
Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures. Procedures include basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic and extremity.
Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.

• Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assists in the proper scanning techniques. Provides measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation with direction from the Radiologist.
• Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
Prepares and maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and
• Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and

Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 18 months, and
⚫ Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Education Required:
Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Experience Required:
• No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety. Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.
Certification Addendum
Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g.DNV, CARF or others).

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to:
-lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

⚫ - carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
⚫ - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have clear speech, vision and hearing.

May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood
and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

- Adults and peds (peds preferred – usually traumas): stroke, CTA, biopsies (needle, bone marrow), drains, calcium scoring, cardiac, abdomen, pelvis, head, chest, extremities, general anatomy
- Level 1 Trauma patients
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:1
- Required Certifications:
- BLS, ARRT, IEMA (IL license)
- Skills required
- Required: experience with the above patient types, level 1 trauma experience, EPIC
- Preferred: IV starts
- Support on the Unit:
- RT: 24/7
- Hospitalist: 24/7
- Code Blue/Rapid Response Team
- Charting System:
- EPIC – experience required
- Equipment: Client & Phillips
- Floating:
- Inpatient imaging center
- Mid-shift floating is possible
- Orientation:
- 1 week of orientation on day shift to learn the flow
- Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: Every 3rd weekend Night Shift 7pm-7am
- Schedule comes out every 4 weeks
- Holiday Expectations: coverage required, based on needs
