Description
Radiation Oncology Therapist
Shifts between 6am and 7pm Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
13 week contract
ASAP start
No call required
Credentials Required:
• ARRT National Radiology Lic
• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State licensure required
• Basic Life Support
Experience:
• Minimum of one (1) year Radiation Therapy experience
• Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria
Education:
• Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program required.
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities:
• Basic operations of Linear Accelerators; Varian Truebeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT preferred. SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management.
• Fast pace environment treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines.
Responsibilities:
Simulate and administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and as directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist.
• Interpret the prescription and treatment plan.
•Complete Patient Identification processes per department procedure.
• Maintain audio and visual surveillance of the patient during treatment.
• Consistently and accurately position the patient for treatment.
• Image patient as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
• Consistently and accurately annotate portal images as appropriate.
• Observe patient for side-effects of radiation, changes in behavior, or unusual reactions and report observations to the Radiation Oncologist, nurse, or supervisor.
• Use digital camera to document treatment position and tattoos or field borders on patient’s skin.
• Safely transfer patient from stretcher or wheelchair using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.
• Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments.
• Construct quality immobilization devices that promote reproducible patient positioning.
• Accurately and visibly tattoo patient as appropriate and practice safe handling of needles.
• Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care.
• Complete Aria chart check per department policy.
• Complete weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks, and document appropriately.
•Accurately fabricate custom blocks.
• Coordinate simulation with clinic to support continuity of care.
