CT Technologist – IMMC (Level 1 Trauma Center)

Facility: IMMC – 397-bed Teaching Hospital | Level 1 Trauma Center | Level III Perinatal Center | Magnet Designation | Comprehensive Stroke Center

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to perform basic and intermediate computed tomography (CT) procedures under the direction of the Radiologist. This role requires competency in trauma, stroke, and fast-paced acute care environments.

Major Responsibilities

• Operate CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures including body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, and extremity imaging.
• Obtain and verify patient medical history and physician orders for exam accuracy.
• Position patients appropriately and select/adjust scanning factors to obtain optimal images.
• Ensure radiation safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prepare and administer contrast media under Radiologist supervision.
• Post-process and accurately label images (patient name, MRU, scan location/position).
• Enter patient/study data into RIS and document billing codes accurately.
• Perform quality assurance testing, calibration, and report equipment issues.
• Assist with patient transport and positioning using proper lifting techniques.
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan following departmental policies.

• Unit: IMMC – CT (3 beds)
• Patient Types: Inpatient / Outpatient / ED
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Scans per Day: Average 15 (varies)
• Support Staff: Receptionist (Day Shift), Hospitalist/Physician after hours, Resident Onsite
• Tech Coverage (Weekend Nights):
  • Friday: 1 Tech + Tech Aide
  • Saturday/Sunday: 2 Techs + Tech Aide
• Transport/Tech Aide: Both available
• Processing: 3rd Party
• Charting System: EPIC
• Equipment: Alaris, Pyxis
• Floating: N/A
• Orientation: 1 day on unit
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Scrubs: Gray
• Parking: $47.50/month or $23.75/2 weeks; accessible to CTA Brown Line
• Time Off: Up to 7 days may be approved

Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

• Radiographer license – State of Wisconsin
• ARRT (RT) Certification
• ARRT (CT) Certification (required within 18 months)
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) within 6 months

Education

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Experience

• 3 years of experience preferred
• First-time travelers considered upon review

Skills

• Cross-sectional anatomy knowledge
• IV and venipuncture competency
• Power injection experience
• Trauma and stroke experience required
• Strong communication and patient service skills
• Ability to work independently
• Intermediate computer proficiency

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, twisting, reaching
• Lift up to 50 lbs. (floor to waist)
• Lift up to 20 lbs. overhead
• Carry up to 40 lbs.
• Push/pull 30 lbs. force
• Assist with sliding transfers up to 150 lbs. (with assistance)
• Exposure to radiation, chemicals, blood/body fluids (PPE required)
