Description

Position: Specialty RN – PCU

Unit: 4 Heart Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC)

Location: Asheville, NC

Shift: Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Full SS# and DOB Required for submission

Unit Overview

40‑bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit
Primary populations: CV surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery
Secondary populations: medical cardiology overflow (HF, DKA, sepsis, chest pain, heart block)

Staffing Model

RN ratio: 1:5
PCT ratio: 1:13
Night shift: 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 0.33 HUC
EMR: Cerner
Equipment: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, lifts

Required Qualifications

Stepdown experience
Telemetry experience
BLS and ACLS

Preferred Qualifications

Recent CV/vascular surgery experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem‑pop bypass)
CVICU background

Key Clinical Responsibilities

Epidural and chest tube management
Tube feedings
IV Glucommander
Cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
