SIMPLI FI CLINICAL INTERVIEWS + UNIT FINAL APPROVAL
UNIT: 2NW Advanced Care (ACU/CCU)
Unit Beds: 20
Will you accept a traveler with 2 years’ experience? Yes
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No, need to have completed at least 1 travel assignment
Patient Types:
CHF, Respiratory distress, ACS, A-fib RVR, DM, blood product administration, bipap, CVA overflow, post-cath patients - will see TR bands and the femoral approach; can see femoral sheaths but travelers will not pull them
Some surgical patients – vascular, abdominal, GI, etc.
Drips: diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, heparin –
Patient Ratios:
· ICU: Typically 2:1, sometimes 1:1 depending on patient acuity
· 2NW or Tele: 4:1 during the day, 4-5:1 @ night
Required Certifications:
ACLS, BLS
Skills required:
Experience with above patient types
Chest tubes, wound vacs, dressing changes, monitoring femoral arterial sheaths
Preferred - Art line
ICU experience preferred
Impella and/or IABP experience strongly preferred (10/24/24)
Support on the Unit:
CNA: 1:6 for days, 1:10 for nights
Receptionist/HUC: 0700-2300
Charge nurse: No assignment but oversees ICU as well and will respond to codes and RRT
Phlebotomy: 24/7 for peripheral lab draws
IV/VAT Team? 0700-2300
Hospitalist? On site 24/7
Telemetry monitoring tech? Telemetry tech 24/7. RNs must review and chart on telemetry strips.
Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
Intensivist there during the day, on call from 5p-7a
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC
IV pumps: Hospira Plum A
Medication dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Draeger (switching to Phillips by end of 2023)
Floating: If yes, where?
may float to TELE, Telemetry 2EW, Med-Surg, Neurology-Medical
Travelers will be first to float
Orientation:
General Hospital NEO
2 Shifts on the unit
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
On call? No
Holiday Expectations: Every other
Approval of time off? Can approve 7 days off
Shift times: 1900-0730, 0700-1930
Other notes:
Scrub Color: Any color, professionalActive WA/Compact license.
