INFORMATICS POSITION:  

1. Purpose

The Clinical Informaticist serves as the bridge between clinical operations, information technology, and hospital leadership. The role ensures that clinical workflows are supported by electronic health record (EHR) systems, data tools, and digital solutions that improve patient care, safety, and efficiency while aligning with public health hospital priorities and regulatory requirements.

2. Objectives

• Support optimization and ongoing improvement of Meditech, CPOE, eMAR, as well as the implementation and adoption of Oracle Health.
• Ensure clinical workflows are safe, efficient, and aligned with evidence-based practices.
• Enhance data integrity and reporting to meet quality, compliance, and public health mandates.
• Act as a liaison between clinical staff, IT teams, and hospital administration.

3. Responsibilities

• Clinical Workflow Analysis & Design
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to assess and optimize workflows.
  • Translate clinical needs into functional system requirements.
• EHR Implementation & Optimization
  • Support configuration, testing, and validation of clinical applications.
  • Support change management, go-live support, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Education & Training
  • Develop and deliver training for providers, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Create educational resources for ongoing system updates and optimization.
• Data & Reporting
  • Ensure accurate data captures within the EHR to support quality reporting.
  • Assist with building dashboards, analytics, and performance improvement reports.
• Governance & Compliance
  • Participate in clinical informatics governance committees.
  • Support accreditation, regulatory, and grant reporting needs.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison with state’s Information Technology Team and third-party technology partners.
  • Provide feedback to improve system usability and safety.

4. Deliverables

• Documentation of optimized workflows and updated standard operating procedures.
• Training materials and completion reports for clinical staff.
• Quality and compliance dashboards aligned with hospital priorities.
• Regular progress updates to leadership on system and functional performance.

5. Timeline

• Ongoing role: Continuous throughout project lifecycle and operational use.
• Key milestones tied to EHR implementation phases and optimization cycles.

6. Reporting Structure

The Clinical Informaticist will report to:
