📋 Key Requirements

Mandatory qualifications:

• 🩺 Minimum 3 years Acute Inpatient Case Management experience
• 🏥 At least 1 year in a large hospital
  • 500+ beds
  • Level 1 Trauma or Academic Medical Center
• 📅 Recent experience required
  • Must be within the last 2 years
• 💻 Strong computer skills
• 🖥 Epic EMR experience
• 👩‍⚕️ Nursing degree
  • RN / BSN preferred
  • ADN considered
• ❤️ BLS certification (through AHA)
• 📑 Acute inpatient discharge planning experience
• 🏅 CCM certification preferred but not required

⚠️ Experience that does NOT count:

• Telephonic case management
• Utilization review only
• Therapy experience

💉 Compliance Requirements

• Flu vaccine is mandatory
• Only medical exemptions allowed
  • Must provide documented proof of severe prior reaction

🧬 Fingerprinting Requirement

Two options:

1️⃣ Remote

• Allow 10 days processing time

2️⃣ In-person

• Can be completed at:
  • Jackson campus
  • Grenada campus
• Done week before start date

🕒 Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• No weekend requirement
• Holidays rotated as needed

👩‍⚕️ Patient Caseload

• 15–20 patients per day
• Covers all inpatient units

UMMC receives complex cases because it is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, so patients may include:

• Trauma
• Complex discharge planning
• Patients with limited placement options

🤝 Team Structure

You will work with:

• Case Management RN team
• Social Work team
  • 15 full-time social workers
  • 17 part-time social workers

You will never work alone — always alongside the CM team.

🏥 Discharge Planning Resources

UMMC has agreements with:

• 5 local facilities
• 10 reserved beds per facility

Used for complex patient placements, but:

• Financial assistance mainly for uninsured or underinsured patients
• Must meet strict criteria

Additional consults:

• Respiratory Therapy (RT) – as needed
• Pharmacy – as needed

👕 Dress Code

• Any color scrubs
  or
• Business professional attire

📚 Orientation

• 2 weeks orientation
• Includes:
  • Facility orientation
  • Unit training
• Training is minimal, so candidates must learn quickly and work independently.
