Shift: 12 Hour Days
General InformationBeds: 39 MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU mixed unit- All one ICU divided into pods- would not float into CVICU side unless experienced in that unit/specialtyMinimal Experience:2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferredIf they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel and have significant RN experience outside of ICU, please have CRT send to management team for approvalWill you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment.Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facilityPermanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a travelerPatient Types:Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and traumaDiagnoses include but are not limited to: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma heavy trauma populationCardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelersWill not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this given to permanent staffPatient Ratios:RN: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) acuity dependentRequired Certifications:BLSACLSNIHSSTNCC (REQUIRED) please decline travelers that would not be willing to obtain this certification prior to arrivalRequired Education:Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of NursingSkills required:Epic experienceComfortability working a 48hr/week contract this is not negotiable for this unitExperience with the above-mentioned patientsIf traveler has experience outside of this specialty please include this is your offer detailsICU RN qualified to float to EDPCU RN qualified to float to ICUExperience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients.Impella, IABP and CRRT strongly preferredPlease ask traveler to describe a time when they exceeded a leader s expectations and share this information in your offer email.Support on the Unit:CNA: 1-2 Nurse Aide s per unit + mobility float aideCharge nurse: 2 CRN s oversee all ICUsPhlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws onlyIV/VAT Team? ICU CRNs place all midlinesResource Nurse: Yes, staffing dependentRT: Yes, 24/7Physicians: 3 Intensivists on days, 2 on nights + APP on nightsCharting System: Epic REQUIRED FOR ED ICUAlaris- (Will be switching to Baxter Pumps by October)OmnicellFloating: If yes, where?Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio. Confirm traveler comfortability during interviewOrientation: (facility and unit)Hospital orientation(1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICUScheduling:Weekend rotation: Try for every other weekend, this is not guaranteed though.Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? NoHoliday Expectations: No RTO during holidaysApproval of time off? Up to 7 days must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
