Overview
The Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) is dedicated to delivering specialized, high-quality emergency care for infants, children, and adolescents. Our mission is to provide safe, compassionate, and family-centered treatment tailored to the unique physiological and psychological needs of younger patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialized Pediatric Care: Deliver emergency medical services designed specifically for children and adolescents, recognizing their distinct health needs compared to adults.
- Staffing Excellence: Ensure the department is staffed with at least two registered children’s nurses and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) consultant at all times.
- Triage & Assessment: Conduct thorough triage upon arrival, prioritizing patients based on urgency to guarantee timely and effective care.
- Child-Friendly Environment: Maintain a safe, welcoming space with separate waiting and treatment areas, equipped with toys and activities to reduce anxiety.
- Emergency Protocols: Implement pediatric-specific emergency protocols, including early warning scores to monitor vital signs and detect deterioration.
- Family-Centered Care: Engage parents and caregivers throughout the treatment process, offering clear communication, guidance, and emotional support.
Mental Health Support: Provide psychological assessments and support, particularly for adolescents experiencing emotional distress during emergencies.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma or BSN)
Current RN license (Georgia or Multi-State Compact)
BLS certification required.
Minimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience Required
