Corrections - LVN - Nights

**Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is now requiring that DL and Social Security cards be submitted with the form**
 
 
Start Dates: Must be able to start on 4/18 (preferred) or 5/2
Orientations are on the Weekend once traveler is cleared by credentialing and cleared by TDCJ (State) 

• Deadline for submissions for 4/18 is THIS THURSDAY, 3/19
• Deadline for submissions for 5/2 is 4/7

Orientation Dates: 
April 18th & 19th - Beaumont Office - Beaumont TX  
Completed Profiles and CLP Due on: March 31st

May 2nd & 3rd - Beaumont Office - Beaumont TX  
Completed Profiles and CLP Due on: April 21st

May 2nd & 3rd - Conroe Office - Conroe TX                                             
Completed Profiles and CLP Due on: April 21st

• $200 Module bonus
• $200 Travel Reimbursement (MAX)
• No time off will be accepted

Length: 13 weeks   
Shift: Nights - 1745-0615
Hours per week: 36/48 - rotations are not guaranteed but 36 hours each week is, must have flexibility
OT: Eligibility to work OT Is available contingent on performance 
Based on: 

• Call - ins
• Punctuality
• Unexcused absences
• Cannot have 5 or more consecutive shifts (this will not be approved.)
• Cap at 60 hours total or 20 hours OT. 

Float Requirements: Will be asked to float as needed. They will float to different units that are within 10 - 30 minutes of each other. They would be compensated through the facility for drive time up to 30 minutes with a punch correction. (Clock in once they arrive at their scheduled unit before they are asked to divert to cover the expense)

• Nurses could be floated or diverted within 50 miles of the unit they are assigned to work with
• Rarely could be transferred mid-shift but could be
• Miles to/from home are not considered
• Refusal to float or divert is considered a DNR Status
• Google Maps is their friend! Satellite view
• Their home base (where they live) is not considered

Scheduling: 

• 4 weeks block booking by the 20th
• Work week is Saturday – Friday, this is how OT is calculated 

 Certs: BLS, IV Therapy Cert

• LVN must have IV Therapy Certification with a signed off skills checklist

License: Compact or Texas LVN 
Experience:

• 2 years of RN experience required
• Travelers that come from HH or hospice can succeed but is rare
• Floor nursing in LTAC or acute care are most successful
• Must have at least 1 Year of Acute Care or Med Surg experience  
• LTAC, ER, Skilled Nursing and/or Psych is a plus to succeed in this environment

• Thick skinned
• Independent
• Does not participate in internal issues and gossip
• Successful in a Fast-paced environment
