Job Opportunity: Perfusionist

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (shift times may vary; discuss during interview).
  • Must be able to independently assist with ECMO cannulation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced emergent cardiac cases.
  • ECMO transport experience is required.
  • Experience with Spectrum pumps is mandatory (facility recently transitioned to these pumps).
  • Additional equipment experience requested: Terumo system 1, Quest MPS 2/3 Cardioplegia, ISTAT, Centrimag, Impella 5.5, Bellmont Hyperthermia Kit, CardioHelp, Angiovac, CardioQuip HC.
  • Scrubs provided by the unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Perfusionist, including experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Perfusionist.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Ability to independently assist with ECMO cannulation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • ECMO transport experience.
  • Experience working with Epic electronic health record system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work (I9, Driver’s License/State ID).
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting as applicable.
  • Education verification and primary source license verification (must be current and valid).
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
  • Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Fit mask/respirator fit test to be completed onsite during orientation.

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of online modules within 72 hours of assignment (approximately 12 hours).
  • Pass/fail testing for medication and arrhythmia competency required prior to start.
  • Annual competencies and core training exams required, including:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Core Parts I, II, and III training (covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, etc.)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, CPI, MAB).

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background).
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required.
  • Candidates must carry valid ID while on duty.
  • This role requires an experienced traveler with demonstrated ability to work independently in critical care cardiac settings.
