Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Care Unit (Contract, Days)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVU) contract assignment. This unit provides care to moderate- to high-acuity patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and specialized nursing care. The RN will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive care to patients with complex cardiovascular and medical conditions.

Unit Overview

• Specialized cardiovascular unit caring for adult to geriatric populations
• Patients may be stable but at high risk for clinical deterioration
• Focus on pre-operative and post-operative cardiac care as well as acute cardiac conditions
• Nurse-to-patient ratio not to exceed 1:4

Patient Population Includes

• Cardiac conditions and acute coronary syndromes (e.g., Myocardial Infarction)
• Pre- and post-cardiac procedures (e.g., coronary artery bypass, carotid endarterectomy)
• Post pacemaker placement and arrhythmia monitoring
• Congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, and other complex comorbidities

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a cardiovascular setting
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry data
• Deliver pre- and post-operative care for cardiac procedures
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using electronic medical records
• Float to other units, including Med/Surg, as needed

Schedule

• Day shift
• 12-hour shifts
• Early morning start time
• Holiday coverage may be required

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience
• Experience with cardiac/telemetry patient care
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR system

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Preferred Experience

• Background in Cardiac Progressive Care (CPCU), CVICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Telemetry, or Critical Care (CCU)
