Description

📌 Position Overview

Unit: T8 – Trauma, Ortho, Surgical
Beds: 30
Shift: 12 hours
Ratios: 1:4–5
EMR: Cerner

🚨 Must-Have Requirements

  • Level 1 Trauma experience – REQUIRED
  • Minimum 2 years Telemetry experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Must live outside 50-mile radius (Driver’s License = source of truth)
  • Must complete Medical Solutions Pre-Screen
  • Own vehicle required (Travel Teams)

⚠️ Screening & Hiring Process

  • Clinical review → Manager approval (No 2nd interview)
  • Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam (2 attempts only)
    • ❌ Fail = DNU for 6 months (CS AZ & Sacramento Region)

🧪 Day 1 Requirements (STRICT PASS/FAIL)

SIMs Lab (High Importance)

  • Foley catheter insertion
  • Central line dressing change (ED differs slightly)

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Breaking sterile field = Immediate termination
  • Must be fully confident in sterile technique
  • Additional training (non-fail): lifts, restraints, wound care

👨‍⚕️ Unit Details

  • Patient Types:
    • Trauma cases
    • Post-op transplants (Day 1)
    • Whipple procedures
    • Spine & ortho joints
  • Support:
    • Charge RN (no patient load)
    • Nurse Aides: 2 (day) / 1 (night)
    • IV Team: SWAT RN
    • RT & Pharmacy: 24/7

🏥 Equipment & Systems

  • Telemetry: Phillips
  • Vent Support: BiPAP, CPAP

🔄 Scheduling

  • Weekend Requirement: 3 shifts per 4 weeks
  • Holidays: As per perm staff rotation
  • Floating: Required across MS & Tele units

👕 Dress Code & Compliance

  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Natural hair colors only
  • No facial piercings
  • Clean-shaven (for fit test)
