Description
Unit Details
- Beds: 22
- Patient Ratios: 1:5
- Patient Population: Post-cath, TAVR, Mitral clip, Esophagectomy, wedge/lobectomy, and general cardiac monitoring.
- Unit Focus: High-turnover recovery unit.
- Support: 2-3 PCA/CNAs per shift, Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Telemetry tech, 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and IV/VAT Team.
- Charge Nurse: Takes a reduced assignment.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required (First-time travelers accepted).
- Licensure/Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Skills: Sheath pulls, chest tubes, cardiac drips, tube feed management, doff management, and esophagectomy care.
- Preferred: Art lines for TAVR patients.
- Training: Unit will train staff on sheath pulls.
Scheduling & Floating
- Shift: Every other weekend rotation.
- Holidays: Included in holiday rotation.
- On-Call: No.
- RTO: Must be approved by the Nurse Manager (NM).
Floating: Yes, within scope of practice and below.
Technology & Logistics
- EMR: Cerner.
- Med Dispensing: Omnicell.
- Monitors: Phillips.
- IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical.
- Unit Equipment: Portable heart monitors, IV ultrasound machine, bladder scanner.
- Scrub Color: Galaxy Blue.
- Parking: Free, badge-access lot.
- Orientation: NEO (Facility orientation) + 2 shifts on the floor.
