Special Education Teacher – Affective Needs

📍 Location: Westminster, Colorado
🏢 Facility: Rocky Mountain Elementary School

🌟 Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Affective Needs) to join a supportive elementary school team. This role focuses on working with students with severe emotional and behavioral needs, utilizing a trauma-informed approach in a self-contained classroom setting.

📅 Position Details

Start Date: 04/20/2026 (ASAP start preferred)
Duration: 12 Weeks (potential for long-term extension into 2026–2027 school year)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:15 AM – 3:15 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week
Setting: Elementary School (Grades 1–5)

👩‍🏫 Classroom Details

Caseload: ~10 students (flexible)
Environment: Self-contained classroom
Support: 2 paraprofessionals
Student Needs: SED (Severe Emotional Disturbance), Autism

🩺 Key Responsibilities

Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with affective needs
Implement behavior management strategies and individualized education plans (IEPs)
Utilize trauma-informed practices
Collaborate with support staff and multidisciplinary teams
Foster a safe and structured learning environment

✅ Requirements

Valid Special Education Teaching License
Affective Needs / Severe Needs Endorsement required
Experience with behavior management and trauma-informed care
Ability to work with students with SED and Autism

📌 Additional Information

Fingerprinting required (CBI & FBI clearance in Colorado)
Up to 6 hours of onboarding modules (billable)
